Review: Annie's Way Arbutin and Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask

Monday, December 23, 2013

Finding a suitable mask for a person with sensitive skin is difficult. I have been using Annie's Way Arbutin and Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask for a while now.
I bought it at MaskSlim @Tropicana City Mall as it was on promotion around March 2013 (buy 1 free 1 for RM 100). I cannot resist promotions :p
It comes in a tub (250 ml)
Description on the tub:
Whitening, moisturizing, minimizes fine lines, leaves skin radiantly bright

Ingredients:
Arbutin Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Vitamin EC, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate

Clear gel like texture
Instructions:
1. After cleansing and toning face, spread a generous layer (about 0.3-0.5 cm thick) on face
2. Leave the mask on face for 30-40 minutes
3. Scrape off with spatula
4.Tissue off the excess jelly mask and rinse with water
5. Use twice a week

My thoughts:
The scent is very light. The jelly mask will soften whiteheads and blackheads. Sometimes when I scrape off the jelly mask, I can see some blackheads on the jelly mask. After using the jelly mask, it is easier for me to squeeze out the blackheads and whiteheads. I do not need to squeeze forcefully to get the blackheads out. I used this once or twice in a week (view my skincare routine here). It is very gentle and mild on skin and give a refreshing feel. In my opinion, the mask really does what it claims. My skin is brighter, softer and fairer after one usage :) I do not think it minimizes the fine lines... Even after finishing the whole tub... I did not see any difference on the fine lines... Still, this is a great mask.

Pros
:) Whitens, brighten and hydrates face
:) Feel refreshed
:) Affordable
:) Suitable for sensitive skin

Cons
:( Less hygienic as product is in a tub
:( A little difficult to wash off
Rating: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

I repurchased this in Hong Kong (massive skincare haul
I just love this!

This is just for sharing :) I do not benefit in any way as I bought all the products I review myself (or gifts from friends/family). When I first bought this it was only RM 65 per tub (March 2013). I think the price went up to RM 75 (end of 2013) and the price increased again to RM 85 per tub (March 2014). It is no longer within my budget... >.< lol

I know a lot of you readers are interested in buying this product by looking at the comments.
For those of you planning to travel (or transiting) to Malaysia, there is a new outlet ("MaskSlim" - their best seller is Annie's Way jelly mask) in KLIA2 so I hope this is a good news for you guys!

There are "MaskSlim" outlets in SS2 (PJ), Tropicana City Mall (PJ), Gurney Paragon Mall (Penang), Paradigm Mall (Kelana Jaya), Sunway Giza Mall (Kota Damansara), Sunway  Pyramid (Bandar Sunway) and KL Festival City (Setapak).

  1. I've heard so many good things about this mask, but I can't seem to find a list of ingredients! My skin is very sensitive also so I always check before buying - I can't tolerate cetyl alcohol and some other things ):

Maybe you can try the sample size (25ml in a sachet) before jumping into the tub.

  2. Are Annie's Way jelly masks such as Arbutin and Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask, Net carbon element porcelain mask jelly, and Aloe Vera oil jelly seaweed mask good for mild acne or just acne in general?

    1. Hi :)
I am not exactly sure about this.
My sister has acne prone skin and as per her comment, after using the jelly mask, her skin is brighter, smoother and the bumps/acne on her forehead are less obvious.
      Hope this helps :)

    3. There were physical stores in Malaysia... so I am not sure where to get these online... Currently there were about RM85. I know a website, taobao.com that sells Annie's Way Jelly Masks and it is so cheap. Just make sure you buy from a seller with positive reviews as there were fake ones there as well.

I'm not sure about Singapore. I don't think Annie's Way is in JB yet. There is one in Penang and most of the outlets are in KL/Subang area.

  10. I just bought this mask and tried it, but got an allergic reaction, so I was searching for reviews and came across yours. I couldn't find many reviews by someone who got sensitive skin... It is such a shame because this is a good mask, but not for me :(

    1. Yes, this is a good mask... This worked very well for me and my sisters. Maybe you are allergic to certain ingredients in the product? I tried some of the sheet masks and was allergic. So far the jelly masks have not irritate my skin.

    2. I also have allergic reaction to this mask. My skin was red, itchy and swollen. It is likely to be caused by the ingredient Methylisothiazolinone. Please google search this ingredient and see.

    1. Hey, I don't think it would remove freckles. My sister has some freckles and she use this mask. Her freckles are still there. Lol. But skincare products works differently for everyone. Good luck :)
