Review: NRK Collagen Booster Firming Mask

Monday, September 26, 2016

~BRAND~
NRK

~NAME~
Collagen Booster Firming Mask

~PRICE~
RM 2.95 (naruko website)

~CAPACITY~
25ml in each sachet

I tried a few products from this range before. I actually enjoyed the other mask I tried.
Hopefully I will enjoy this one as well :)

Description
Instantly boosts skin firmness and elasticity to deliver tight, plump skin.

Directions
Leave the mask for 15-20 minutes

Ingredients

My thoughts

~PACKAGING~
Simple pink packaging.

~SCENT~
It has quite a strong scent... It is a little sweet and sour and flowery... I think...
It is not the kind of scent I like >,>

~TEXTURE~
The mask is a not as big as Lovemore's and very thin. It tears easily.

~PRODUCT~
The sheet mask fits my face pretty well except the edges of the nose. The essence is clear and quite runny. The essence does not drips and cling to my face during application. Slight tingling sensation but no allergic reaction. After removing the sheet mask, my face was not sticky. It took a while for the essence to be completely absorbed. I rinsed my face anyway (my habit) It is moisturizing for my dry skin and it makes my skin super soft and smooth. I love how hydrating this is! My nose is no longer flaking! Somehow the pores around my nose became less visible. My face also feels more bouncy - boing boing!

Pros
Makes skin smoother and softer
Great hydration
I like the packaging
Zero stickiness
Pores around nose less visible
Skin is more elastic

Cons
Tears easily
Scent is strong & not my cup of tea

Repurchase?
I will consider to repurchase this...

Recommendation?
I think this is worth a try for all skin types except those with extremely sensitive skin
Not suitable for those who hates strong scents

RM 69.00

~CAPACITY~
10 sheets in a box
28ml in a sachet

Description
This mask offers renewed radiance in just 15-20 minutes. Utilizing four powerful brightening ingredients, it prevents the creation of discolorations and reduces the appearance of dark spots. Helps trade a dull complexion for a fresh, luminous and even-toned skin.
For all skin types

Benefits
Brightens, corrects dark spots and soothes wrinkles. Creates a bright and translucent complexion

Directions
After cleansing, apply the mask for 10-15 minutes and remove the mask. Start your skincare routine.

Ingredients
Tranexamic Acid (active), Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Algin, PEG 7, Glyceryl Cocoate, Triethanolamine, Snow Fungus (Tremella Fuciformis) Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tocopherol, Apple Seed Extract, Allantoin, Galactoarabinan, Vitamin A Palmitate, Ellagic Acid, Kalanchoe Spathulata Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Alpine Skullcap (Scutellaria Alpina) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Masterwort (Peucedanum Ostruthium) Leaf Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Alpine Willowherb (Epilobium Fleischeri) Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Essential Oils of Lavender, Chamomile(Anthemis Nobilis), Ascorbyl Glucoside, Alpha-Arbutin

My thoughts
I have had some hits and misses with this brand so...

~PACKAGING~

Plain and simple.
If it was not from my favorite brand, I will not pick it up!

~SCENT~
The scent is a little strong.
I expected it to smell like apples... but no... It has a light perfume-ish scent that I did not enjoy!

~TEXTURE~
Fairly thin

~PRODUCT~
There is a lot of essence but it is not as runny as compared to other sheet masks. The essence is a little yellowish. After removing the mask, there was a lot of essence of my face and it took a while for my skin to absorb. It left my skin sticky, a little oily and shiny. The sheet mask is big and did not fit nicely. It did brighten my skin but I am not sure whether it soothes wrinkles... I have some fine lines but it remains the same... I don't think it is hydrating enough... No allergic reaction.

Pros
Brighten my skin
No allergic reaction

Cons
Left my skin sticky, oily and shiny
Scent is a little strong
Not hydrating enough for my dry skin

Repurchase?
I will not repurchase this.

Recommendation?
I think this might be more suitable for older skin.

Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical COs Brightening Mask

Thursday, September 8, 2016
(long overdue post)

My friend recommended this brand to me because she has great confidence in products from Naruko. I tried a few products from Naruko and so far I like it. Time to pamper my face!

This is the packaging

Description:
This mask is enriched with moisture and fortified with anti-oxidant to refine texture, lighten discolorations and strengthen the defense system. Skin feels softer, smoother and more resilient with a younger appearance.

Claims:
Provides intense brightening, extreme comfort and stronger defense for the skin

Directions:
After cleansing, apply the mask onto face and even out air bubbles. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and remove. Continue with usual skincare routine.

My thoughts:
The scent is not too strong. Still ok for me. There is quite a lot of essence in the sachet. The essence did not dried out after 20 minutes. No allergic reaction. The essence was a little sticky. The stickiness goes away after 15 minutes or so. My face did brighten a little but not too obvious. Not too bad for the first application :)

However, I do prefer Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Night Gelly. The scent is better as well.

Pros:
:) No allergic reaction
:) Brighten skin

Cons:
:( A little sticky
:( I don't really like the scent

Rating: 2.5/5
Repurchase: No (I really hate sticky feelings)

Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Pore Minimizing & Brightening Essence

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Hello lovelies :)
Naruko, one of my favorite brands of all time...
Even though there are some hits and misses...
I still love the brand...
I started using this essence on 2 July 2015
I emptied this bottle on 27 November 2015

~BRAND~
Naruko

~NAME~
Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Pore Minimizing & Brightening Essence

~PRICE~
RM55

~CAPACITY~
30ml

Description
Refines the appearance of visible pores and evens the skin tone by the high concentrations of active ingredients
It claims to minimizes pores and creates fair, smooth and flawless skin
Suitable for all skin types, especially for the skin with uneven complexion and visible pores

Directions
Apply generously all over face and massage for better absorption

Ingredients

My thoughts
I hope this will not be a miss for me!

The texture of the essence

~PACKAGING~
It comes in a simple see-through glass, pump packaging.
I am not too fond of glass packaging because I have to be extra careful when handling them... lol

~SCENT~
It has a light fresh barley scent but somehow there is a hint of alcohol to it.
Not my favorite scent from this series... I definitely prefer the night gelly's scent!

~TEXTURE~
The essence has a clear, light watery gel texture.
It is easy to spread

~PRODUCT~
Personally I love the essence! A little goes a long way and I believe this can last me for about three months. After applying it is a little sticky. The stickiness will disappear once the essence is completely absorbed. It did not take a long time so I am fine with this. I think it hydrates my skin quite well. As for the claims, I think it takes some time to see the results... My skin did improve a little after using it for two weeks but I cannot be sure. The  only thing I did not like is to use this before applying sheet masks. I tried a few different sheet masks but every time I use the serum beforehand, my face will be super sticky. My all time favorite masks which is not sticky at all became extremly sticky! This did not happen when I was using Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence.

After using this essence for more than two months, I did notice that my pores were smaller and blackheads were lesser. My skin feels good with this essence! I did not notice any brightening effect yet. I think it is not obvious.

Pros
Light fresh scent
Does what it claims
Absorption rate is fast
No allergic reaction
Easy to spread
Minimal stickiness
Light texture

Cons
Hint of alcohol scent
Not suitable to be used before applying sheet mask

Repurchase?
I will repurchase this!

Recommendation?
I strongly recommend this to everyone who is looking for a light and affordable essence! An essence that is worth a try :)

Review: Naruko Taiwan Magnolia Brightening and Firming Night Gelly EX

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

This brand is not new to me...
I love some of the products and dislike some others...
I hope this will work out for me :)

My friend recommended this to me :)
When it was on promotion, I bought it quickly without a second thought...
It was about RM 35++

Descriptions
This night gelly continuously provides hydrating, brightening, firming and age-repairing treatments overnight, giving you bright, youthful skin

Ingredients

Benefits
Moisturizes and firms the skin while preventing aging

The spatula is place on the protective lid
The spatula is flat and to be honest, I never used it because it is troublesome
The lid does not fit perfectly so the gelly spills and it is a mess
After a few times, I threw the lid and spatula away

Directions
With the included spatula, retrieve two pea-sized amount and apply evenly over the face each evening. No rinsing necessary

Skin types
For all skin types, especially for dull, sallow and aging skin

The gelly up close

My thoughts
The scent is a little strong... It has a strong floral (jasmine) scent. I personally dislike it... The scent did not linger for a long time which is good. Most of the time I fell asleep already to notice... haha. It is easy to spread but a little sticky and oily. Once absorbed, skin is smooth. It is not hydrating enough for my dry skin. After using this for a few months, I notice my skin is a little brighter and bouncy so I think the firming effect is quite good.

Pros
:) Affordable
:) No allergic reaction
:) Skin is smoother, brighter and firmer
:) Easy to spread

Cons
:( Strong scent
:( Sticky and oily
:( Not hydrating enough for dry skin

Rating: 3/5
Repurchase: No. I prefer Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Night Gelly (review here)

Review: NRK 7 Days Skin Perfecting Caviar Mask

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Brand: NRK

Price: RM 29.90

Benefits
While supplying sumptuous nutrition, it hydrates and builds up skin reservoir, preventing premature aging.

Directions
After cleansing, apply the mask evenly onto face for 15-20 minutes. Remove mask and continue with usual skincare rountine.

One packaging for seven sheet masks

Left: Thin sheet mask
Right: Pearl paper

Skin Types
All skin types. Recommended for dull-looking, dry skin and emergency use, to reduce roughness and fine lines

Ingredients
Purified Water (Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Dopotassium Glycyrrhizate, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Saccharide Isomerate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, D-Panthenol, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Erythritol, Arginine, Caviar Extract, Fragrance, Methylisothiazolinone, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Homarine HCL

Look at all the masks in there!
And erm... the germs... hahaha

My thoughts
The scent is really light. The sheet mask is very thin but does not tear when I unfolded it. It is a little too big for my face and does not fit perfectly. Minimal stickiness and the sheet mask is soothing. I do not like that all the seven sheet masks were in one packaging because it is less hygienic. When I took one out, germs already went into the packaging right? Imagine how many times I open and close this packaging... Then imagine the amount of germs that went in!!! Gross...

Look at the thickness of the mask!

And then on my face!
Super thin...
Look at the chin area! It does not fit my face well...

Overall, the sheet masks did not do much to my skin... Only brightens my skin a little (but not obvious at all) and makes my skin a little smoother and hydrated.

Look at the amount of essence!
The whole packaging contains 180 ml of essence.

Day 1
After using, my skin is much more hydrated and smooth :)

Day 2
After using, skin is a little brighter, smoother and hydrated. It also reduce the redness on my skin.

Day 3
No difference

Day 4
No difference

Day 5
No difference

Day 6
No difference

Day 7
No Difference

I am a little disappointed to be honest.
>.<   >.<   >.<

Pros
:) Skin is hydrated and smooth
:) Sheet mask is very thin
:) Scent is very light

Cons
:( The result after using the sheet masks were not obvious
:( Not hygienic
:( Sheet mask is too big and does not fit my face perfectly

Rating: 2.5/5
Repurchase: No...

Review: Naruko Marjoram & Lavender Brightening Eye Cream EX

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Harlow!
I am back with another review of Naruko's product. I have total confidence in their products. The products I have tried so far from Naruko have never break me out. Never.

This time I tried the eye cream from Naruko. I am constantly looking for an affordable and effective eye cream because I have really dark under eye circles. I have been using this for a few months now.

The packaging is simple.

It comes in a tube of 15g for RM39

Description
Marjoram and Lavender Brightening Range is designed for uneven skin tone or dull looking skin. With perfect combination of Arbutin, Ellagic acid and other highly effective brightening formulas and highly moisturized ingredients such as Tremella, Hyaluronic acid, Microcapsules of Vitamin A, C, E and the patented complex Phtoferulin, Marjoram and Lavender Brightening Range provides skin with moisturizing, brightening, relaxing, protecting benefits. Also, the scent of lavender relaxes and soothesskin that attacked by melanin and harmful elements.

Benefits
Brightens dull skin around eyes, keeping it firm and hydrated.

Directions
Take a pearl-sized amount and gently dab around eyes with fingers.

Skin types
For all skin types, especially  for dull, aging skin around the eyes

White cream and a little oily

My thoughts:
I never really like lavender scent but luckily the scent is mild... at least bearable! The nozzle is small and it is really easy to control the amount of cream being squeeze out. I think the eye cream is a little oily but it absorbs really fast. I think this eye cream works... temporarily only! Right after applying I can see that my fine line were less obvious but the next morning, the fine lines were back! I am a little disappointed with this product. Maybe my dark eye circles and fine lines are extra stubborn and they just won't leave me alone!

*Update: The tube last me for about one year. I only use once in the morning. At night I use the night eye gelly from the Raw Job's Tears series (review here)*

Pros
:) Absorbs really fast
:) Hydrates under eye area a little

Cons
:( Did not get rid of my dark eye circles/fine lines

Rating: 2/5
Repurchase: Nope

Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Night Gelly

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I have been using this night gelly for about 4 months now. This is a sleeping mask meant for the face. I received this as a present from my friends. I am also using the toner (review here) and night eye gelly (review here) from the same series.

Simple and nice packaging

What the product claims:
This night gelly is enriched with powerful moisturizing agents that relieve dehydration and fortified with three unique brightening ingredients that even skin tone. It leaves skin softer, smoother and more resilient with a younger appearance.

As compared to the night eye gelly, it is more yellowish (Maybe it's the packaging or my fault?)

I don't really know how to describe it. It is jelly like and translucent.

Once I spread it, it is clear and is absorbed into skin really fast

I personally like the light barley scent. However, I think the barley scent is a little heavier than the night eye gelly... It is still acceptable for me. The packaging is nice (it comes with a spatula but I misplaced it). The night gelly has a yellowish-clear-jelly like texture. I apply a few dabs on my forehead, cheeks, chin and nose then spread evenly... and go to bed. The night gelly is absorbed quickly into the skin as compared to the night eye gelly. I applied both the night eye gelly and the night gelly on each hand to test. The night gelly is absorbed into the skin right away and it is not sticky. The night eye gelly takes a longer time to be absorbed into the skin and is sticky after application.

The night gelly provides great hydration to skin. In the morning, I wake up with softer and smoother skin which is also well hydrated. I love this as it makes my skin fairer and brighter by at least one tone. Sometimes, I will skip my moisturizer because I think the night gelly is hydrating enough. The night gelly last for about 6 months for me (estimation).

Pros
:) I love the barley scent
:) No allergic reaction or breakouts
:) Affordable (as a little goes a long way)
:) Not sticky
:) Delivers what the product claims making my skin fairer, brighter, smoother and well hydrated

Cons
:( Not as hygienic as the product comes in a tub but still it is my fault for misplacing the spatula that comes with the tub

Rating: 5/5
Repurchase: Definitely YES!

Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Night Eye Gelly

Sunday, April 13, 2014

I have been using this night eye gelly for about 5 months now. This is a sleeping mask meant for the eyes. I received this as a present from my friends. I am also using the toner (review here) and night gelly  (review here) from the same series.

This is the nice and simple packaging

What the product claims:
This night eye gelly gently soothes and invigorates tired, dehydrated skin around the eyes. The powerful raw Job's Tears Extract helps to prevent the creation of discolorations and builds the skin's defense system.

The picture above is the night eye gelly. It is very light.

The night eye gelly up close

I personally like the light barley scent. I like the packaging as well as the night eye gelly (it comes with a spatula but I misplaced it). The night eye gelly has a white-clear-jelly like texture. I apply a very small amount around my eyes and massages it for a while (depending on my mood). I think it takes a longer time for the night eye gelly to be absorbed into the skin as compared to the night gelly. The night eye gelly is sticky after application which I do not really like.

The night eye gelly hydrates pretty well. I do not think it does anything to the fine lines/dark circles around my eyes. I think the night eye gelly can last me another nine months or maybe one year! The night eye gelly can  last longer (by many months) than the night gelly!

*An update: I started using this since September 2013 and until March 2015 (expired February 2015) there is still about one quarter of the product left... It takes forever to finish the product! I think I did stop using it for a month or two only*

Pros
:) I love the barley scent
:) No allergic reaction or breakouts
:) Affordable (as a little goes a long way)

Cons
:( Sticky after application
:( Does not reduce appearance of fine lines/dark circles

Rating: 3/5
Repurchase: No (but I want to try the night eye gelly from the other series)

Review: NRK Essential VC Brightening & Deep Hydrating Mask

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

I bought this at Watsons a few months ago. It comes in a box of 5. The packaging looks cheaper in my opinion when compared to the other Naruko series.

Lemon & creme soda mask
Benefits:
Instantly brightens and hydrates tired skin to restore a healthy, clear complexion.

Directions:
After cleansing, apply mask for 15-20 minutes.

The mask is very thin :)

The essence is clear and runny.

My thoughts:

The scent is relatively strong. In my opinion, the scent is like artificial lemon... and soda perhaps? I love lemon so the scent was acceptable to me. The mask is very thin. After 20 minutes, the mask was still very wet. My skin is fully hydrated and slightly brighter after using the mask. My skin is also softer after using the mask. My skin is not allergic to the mask *thankful*. I kept touching my face because it was softer and zero stickiness.

Pros:
:) The mask does brighten and hydrates skin after first usage
:) It is affordable
:) No allergic reaction
:) Zero stickiness

Cons:
:( Mask was too big for my face
:( Scent was a little strong

Rating: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Toner

Monday, January 20, 2014

I have been using this toner for four months now. This toner is from Raw Job's Tears series. I am also using the night eye gelly (click here for the review) and night gelly (click here for the review) from the same series. I will be doing the review for those later on.

This is the packaging (150ml)

This is what the product claims to do

This is what the toner looks like. It is not so clear from the picture. The toner is clear and runny.
The toner has a very light barley scent. The packaging is very simple and nice. The product claims to rebalance, rehydrate and brighten skin. I like this scent of the toner. The toner is very soothing and comfortable on skin. It is not sticky at all and is absorbed into skin really quickly. However, it takes quite a long time to see the brightening effect (my family and friends see the results recently).
Pros
:) Very light barley scent
:) No allergic reaction or breakouts
:) Not sticky (absorbs quickly by skin)
:) Toner is soothing and comfortable
Cons
:( Not hydrating enough for my skin (dry skin, oily T-zone)

Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Maybe
