Taiwan Trip Day 9 (2 November 2014) Taroko Gorge

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

A new adventure awaits us :)
This post will be picture intensive!

I am looking forward to visit Taroko Gorge!
It is definitely a beautiful place!
I love this place!

We went out to 7-eleven (again) to buy breakfast and lunch... at around 7:30 am
Total cost is NT239
We waited at the living room in our minsu for the driver to arrive...
The driver arrived at about 8:40 am

The driver stopped by to get breakfast so if anyone wanted to get breakfast, they can get it here...

Our breakfast as usual with drinks...

Our chocolate drink

The view I took inside the van...

There were 7 tourists in this van...
Including  us

Do refer to this website when you are planning your trip as some scenic spots might be closed.
Tunnel of Nine Turns 九曲洞 was closed when we were there...

The journey from our minsu to our first destination was about 45 minutes

Qingshui Cliff 清水斷崖

It's so pretty but the weather was super hot!

We spent about 15 minutes there...

I will only show this one...
Because my eyes were so tiny in the other pictures... lol

Next...

Eternal Spring Shrine 長春祠

One with the bridge

Walking (happily) back to the van...

Next...

Swallow Grotto Trial 燕子口

Next is Cimu Bridge

The frog prince!
The stone is the frog!
The pavilion is the crown!
Can you see it?

Finally time for lunch!

We bought this earlier at 7-eleven because the price for food here is pretty steep!

We walked around the place for a while...

Hubby went to the restroom so I was playing with his camera

I saw a pagoda! lol

Next...

Baiyang Trail 白楊步道
There are 7 tunnels along the 2 km trail

Super excited and happy!
We went in as a big group

Below will be views hubby captured along the trail

At the end of the trail...

Water Curtain Cave

I was really looking forward to this!

Somehow it was a little dangerous as the path for walking is quite small... and dark...
The path was so small but all the tourist were  going in and out so it was a little too crowded...
The path was also slippery and some of the tourist kept pushing so it was super easy to slip...
The water was super cold... very nice!

This was our last stop...

 Super refreshed :)

Time to walk all the way back!

Our next stop is...

Qixing Lake 七星潭

The beach is a little different... It is filled with stone pebbles instead of sand...

The water is so clear and blue and the waves are super strong!

After enjoying the scenery, we checked in to the hotel!
This is the most expensive  accommodation during our whole trip and also the best one!

Hotel Bayview (website here)
NT2700 (weekday)

The entrance

Ocean-view Honeymoon Room w/no balcony

The extra comfy bed with great view!
Comfy sofa for the view as well!

Hubby's favourite, TV!

The bathroom was great too!
A big bathtub!

The shower, toilet, sink and mirror
Extremely clean
Basic toiletries are provided

Electric kettle, cups and drinks provided

The corridor and the decorations
After enjoying the comfort of our room, we went out for a walk...

The hotel provides free bicycle service.
The wind was way too strong that day.
We tried biking for a while but it was difficult to take full control of the bicycle so we gave up.
The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful.

There is also a 24 hours cafe and there were lots of cookies and drinks...
Oh... It's free!

This was the most delicious one :)
We ate... erm... too many to count!

Since it was only 5 pm, we decided to walk around to find food

We walked to Chihsing Tan Katsu Museum because I wanted to try the sashimi there

I have no idea what it was called but it stands out!
It costs NT150

After paying, the cashier told us to go and watch how they cook it...

Big fire~~~

I love the seat :)
It is so cute >.<

Our sashimi!
It was partially cooked >,<

I was really looking forward to this!
It turned out I did not enjoy this at all...
Probably because my tolerance level to raw food is pretty low...
I love salmon to the max but I think that's it...
Hubby finds it normal...
Still worth a try though

Next...

Time for our proper dinner...

鮮炸魚排 NT200
No idea how to translate this...
Some kind of fried fish...
Very crispy and salty...
Not too bad

 鮮炒曼波魚 NT250
Stir fried fish...
Quite plain...
For the price it is quite disappointing...

We were still hungry...
So off we went to Family Mart... Obviously 7-eleven was not nearby... lol

We spent NT79 on pudding ice cream, instant noodle and Taiwan beer!

Back in our room, we were enjoying the cup noodle  while watching TV :)

I like this noodle... because it is kimchi flavored!

Slept after eating just like a pig...

So comfy!

~~Tips~~
* Bring your own lunch to save money
* Buy disposable raincoats at night markets/7-eleven (there will be used raincoats if you do not mind)
* Wear comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of walking/hiking
*Bring tissue or towel to wipe your feet
